Critique Services

Now that your manuscript is either in the works or complete, you're ready to start the critique process. The critique is a vital part of the writing process and our critique services will provide an overall evaluation of your manuscript.

All critiques are performed in partnership with author and editor Adaline McMilan to provide our clients with the best service possible.

*All manuscripts must be submitted in twelve point font and double spaced with a clear type face such as Times New Roman.

What's Included

We will provide concise and clear feedback on your manuscript as a whole. Elements that will be evaluated include:

  • Plot: We will tell you whether the plot is intriguing, if the stakes are high, and if the plot is clearly communicated to the reader.

  • Pacing: We will evaluate the pacing and let you know if it is awkward or needs adjusting.

  • Characters: We will evaluate the likability of the main characters as well as the believability and depth of the entire cast.

  • Writing Style: We will evaluate your personal style and let you know if there are any inconsistencies.

  • World Building: We will make sure that your world building is coherent and clearly communicated to the reader.

  • The Basic Package: The Basic Package covers the first twenty pages of your manuscript and provides an evaluation of the very beginning of your novel. ($20)

  • The Bronze Package: The Bronze Package covers the first fifty pages of your manuscript. ($50)

  • The Silver Package: The Silver Package covers the first one hundred pages of your manuscript. ($75)

  • The Gold Package: The Gold Package covers the first 150 pages of your manuscript. ($125)

  • The Platinum Package: The Platinum Package covers your entire manuscript up to 100,000 words ($250). Up to 150,000 words ($300). If your manuscript exceeds 150,000 words, we will set a custom price for you according to the exact word count.

  • The copyright belongs to you, the author.

  • A critique is not a full developmental edit. This is simply an overview of either a chunk of your manuscript or your entire manuscript.

  • A critique is not a developmental edit, line edit, copy edit, nor is it a proofread. We will not be editing the sentence structure or grammar of your manuscript, nor will we put any edits on the manuscript directly. After your manuscript has been critiqued, you will still need to hire a professional editor to edit your novel.

  • We reserve the right to refuse service for any reason.

  • Completed services are non-refundable.

  • Please schedule in advance. Your critique should be scheduled at least one month in advance to the desired completion date.
